'02 Dodge Stratus Coupe R/T - Maintenance

The following maintenance schedule is taken and cross-referenced directly from the Dodge 2002 Stratus Coupe Handbook. It has been augmented with extra checks according to my system. It assumes that you are driving your car "severely" and so following Dodge's Severe Maintenance Schedule.

The usual disclaimers apply. Don't be a moron.

Every 3,000mi or at 3 months
Change Engine Oil NOTE
Check Air Filter  
Check Coolant Level  
Check Radiator Cap  
Check Washer Fluid Level  

Every 6,000mi or at 6 Months
Change Oil NOTE
Replace Engine Oil Filter  
Check disc brake pads for wear  
Rotate Tires NOTE
Every 6,000mi Additional Scheduled Service
Change Oil NOTE
Replace Engine Oil Filter  
Check disc brake pads for wear  
Rotate Tires NOTE

Every 15,000mi or at 12 months
Replace Air Filter NOTE
Replace spark plugs, standard type NOTE
Every 15,000mi Additional Scheduled Service
Change Transmission Fluid Filter  
Check brake hoses for deterioration or leaks  
Inspect drive shaft boots for grease leaks and damage  

Every 30,000mi or at 24 months
Check drive belts condition  
Change manual transaxle oil NOTE
Every 30,000mi Additional Scheduled Service
Check fuel hose condition  
Check brake hoses for deterioration or leaks  
Inspect ball joint and steering linkage seals for grease leaks and damage  
Check and service exhaust system as required NOTE

Every 60,000mi or at 48 months
Change engine coolant  
Every 60,000mi Additional Scheduled Service
Replace Timing Belt NOTE
Check fuel system for leaks NOTE
Check evaporative emission control system NOTE
Replace ignition cables  
Check distributor cap and rotor  

Every 100,000mi
Replace spark plugs, platinum type  
Replace timing belt NOTE

Every 120 Months
Inspect SRS airbag system NOTE

NOTES

  • Changing Engine Oil —
    • 5W30 (10W30 okay for summer)
    • 17mm Oil Plug
  • Evaporative emission control system
    • except evaprative emission canister which must be accomplished by an authorized mechanic
  • Exhaust System —
    • connection portion of muffler, muffler pipes, and converter heat shields
  • Fuel System —
    • tank, pipe line and connection, and fuel tank filler tube cap
  • Manual Transaxle Oil —
  • Rotating Tires —
    • X Pattern for even wear (H Pattern also acceptable)
    • Torque lug nuts to 73ft-lbs ± 7
  • Spark Plugs —
    • Stock plugs are platinum tipped (indicated by blue striping) and do not require replacement until 90,000 mi
    • Check also the Plug wires which should be clean and well seated
    • Spark Plug Gap is 1.0 to 1.1mm (.039 to .043in)
  • SRS Airbag System —
    • Supplemental Restraint System
  • Timing Belt —
    • At the 60,000mi mark for California, Massachusetts, and Vermont this maintenance is recommended but not required
    • At the 100,000mi mark this only required if it hasn't been changed already
