Cincinnati, Ohio

St Patrick's day '01 found me in Chicago like every good German turned one-day-a-year-Irishman. What does that have to do with Cincinnati? Well, while visiting there with friends, I made a few new friends who haled from the city by the river. Including one lovely young lady named Mary. So comes the invite and the subsequent weekend power-vacation.

Now, Cinci was never on my short list of places to spontaneously visit. Their professional sports teams are never anything to worry about, and they never seem to make headlines up here in the NE. I just never thought of the city as a place that would be worth an extended stay. Boy was I ever wrong.

Cincinnati has a lot to offer for the weekend traveler. Between sporting events and shows, there are also plenty of museums, parks, and local establishments to visit. Also the outlying suburbs have a few clubs and bars that are great to hang out at.

There are parts of Cincinnati that the tourist shouldn't venture, but you'll know you don't belong soon after you arrive and with plenty of time to turn around. But that's not unlike any other city in the states.
