Kitty Hawk, North Carolina

Cape Hattaras Light HouseThe North Carolina coastline is a haven for Ohioans. During the summer, if you are in a car accident during the weekend in NC I'll lay odds that it was with one of us "heart of it all" folks. :-) When my friends and I started taking real vacations together (not just weekend bar crawls), North Carolina was a natural destination.

Now there are all kinds of beach vacations. Many fall into the "city lights" category where I imagine you spend most of your time in the city rather than in the ocean. Me? I'm the kind who'd rather have the opposit end of the spectrum. I want the relaxing vacation, and Kitty Hawk is that!

Travel: Auto - Every Saturday 50,000 people leave the Outer Banks and 50,000 arrive, and there's only one 2 lane highway to support that traffic. You will get stuck in traffic, but to minimize the time in traffic, I strongly recomend that you plan your arrival to be around noon on Sat. Have a long lunch and stretch your legs
