Somerset, PA

"Let's roll." A nerve stealing statement that, unbeknownst to the hero who spoke it, framed the coming resolve of a people, a nation, a 226 year old idea that ordinary men answer the call to defend the freedom of all fellow men. What separates the actions of those men, from their attackers, is that they are not martyrs. They are defenders because we value every life. Every American completes the whole of our citizenry. So that we would not suffer a single man, woman, or child lost. It makes us civilized. It's what calls us to remember the sacrifice of a few ... for the protection of all.

So I took the last Saturday in April and visited the temporary memorial just east of Somerset, PA. To be honest there isn't much there. A parking lot about 1/4 mile over looking the crash site. A fence wall where the constant stream of visitors write messages and leave mementos. It's permenant enough to be worth the trip. And the offictial site of the memorial, Flt93 Memorial, even had a pair of "ambassadors" present to help visitors and answer questions. Below are my pictures from the trip. I defintely recommend visiting the Flt93 Memorial web site and going out of your way for the visit.
